Voluntary Housing Bodies
Voluntary Housing Bodies are independent, non-profit making organisations and generally target specific areas of housing need. They provide rented housing and services for people who are unable to provide their own homes, and for special needs groups such as older people with a disability, or homeless people.
We work with voluntary bodies under the following schemes.
Capital Assistance Scheme and Capital Advance Leasing Facility
Approved voluntary housing bodies can apply for assistance under the Capital Assistance Scheme or Loan & Subsidy Scheme for the provision of accommodation for eligible persons.
Capital Assistance Scheme
The Capital Assistance Scheme assists those with special needs such as the elderly, disabled and homeless people. Grant funding for this scheme is provided to us by the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government.
Capital Advance Leasing Facility
This scheme will help approved housing bodies to access finance from financial institutions and the Housing Finance Agency, which can be used to buy or build homes for social housing purposes under the leasing initiative.
