Exploring Irish Aran knit
Two-part event: Slide show with author & demonstration workshop with knitting tutor
As part of Bealtaine, Vawn Corrigan, author of Irish Aran: History, Heritage and Fashion, teams up with Pauline Gallagher, knitting tutor and founder of the Knitting Class, to present this fun two-part event. (Slide show can be attended separately)
The Aran knit is now both a global icon and a marker of Irishness; discover how this came to be. Vawn will present a fascinating slide show and share the stories and legacy. Following this, Pauline demonstrates how to knit the most important and distinctive Aran stitches. If you can plain and purl stitch you can do Aran knitting!
Notes are provided for your project, just bring your needles and light coloured Aran-weight yarn. (Limited number of kits available for purchase on the day also)
